Healthy Grocery Food Haul!

Hey everyone!!

I know how cliche this is probably going to sound, but I've been trying to eat healthier in the new year, but it's really hard when you're a college student on a budget since "healthy food" generally translate into "expensive food." Most healthier foods tend to be produce which, depending on where you get it from, can be pricier. I recently went to one of my local Kroger grocery stores and only bought healthy foods for my groceries of the week (I tend to have to go at least once a week to the store because I'm home a lot because of the way my classes are set up this semester).

Here is an overview of everything I got! I got a lot of fruits because those are my favorite types of food to eat! I also picked up some tea because I've been really into drinking tea lately because I'm trying to stay away from caffeine as much as possible (which helps that I don't drink soda!) I did get some juice for toddlers because they have so much less sugar in them and taste fine.

I picked up two things I wanted to really enjoy because everyone talks about how great they are for you, but I just couldn't bring myself to like them. And that would be the greek yogurt and the almond milk. I just couldn't enjoy them and it made me sad because I really wanted to since they are better for you than regular milk & yogurt! (I don't like regular yogurt either though!)

I also picked up some boneless, skinless chicken breasts which I portioned in to some plastic bags before I put some in the freezer and some in the fridge for the week's meals. It's really hard to find recipes for 1 person, but I'm doing the best that I can!

I did bag all of my fruits as well so that I could just throw them into my lunch box and head to class. I like to eat these for breakfast, or as a snack on the go, in the mornings so it makes it so much easier when I've already done all of the steps of preparing them ahead of time. On the left are bags full of a mix of blackberries & raspberries, while in the center is just strawberries (my favorite!!), and the right has bags of grapes (my second favorite fruit!!).

What kind of groceries do you guys tend to buy? Anything I need to try if I'm trying to eat on a healthy diet? Let me know!!

See ya!
xoxo Jennifer
